Lokhaa School
Lokhaa is a Waldorf inspired school, accepting each child just the way they are, right here and right now, knowing that they are perfect for whatever journey they are here to undertake and whatever purpose they are here to fulfill.
We inaugurated Lokhaa formally and opened our arms to welcome children on the 14th of June, 2019. We started with Kindergarten and have grown purposefully slowly since then. We are growing organically, one class a year, till Grade 12.
History
Story behind the name
‘Lokhaa’ in Sanskrit means the Universe. Like the Universe, Lokhaa is a community that accepts itself as it is but is also open to creativity and learning. We strive to blossom not because we are not perfect as we are, but because we want to explore the infinite horizons of our perfection.

Story behind the logo
Enso, meaning ‘circle’ in Japanese, is a sacred symbol in Zen Buddhism and has its roots in the mandala symbol of the spiritual traditions of India, China, and Tibet. It is drawn in a single brushstroke, representing the present moment where the mind is free to let the spirit create through the physical body.
Among the many elements of enlightenment it symbolizes, some of them are the beauty of imperfection, uniqueness, and letting go of expectations – the most important pillars of a wholesome education.
As the Waldorf pedagogy is deeply rooted in educating through and from nature, the colours in the Enso of our logo represent the five basic elements of nature: white – the sky, shades of blue – water, shades of yellow and orange – fire, shades of green – air, and brown – the earth.
